- Authors
LINDFIELD, PETER
- Abstract
The article criticizes the 18th-century Gothic Revival building design book "Ancient Architecture: Restored, and Improved by a Great Variety of Grand and Useful Designs, Entirely New in the Gothick Mode" by British architect Batty Langley. The social status of Gothic architecture including its connection with male homosexuality is examined and Langley's plans for architectural details such as arches, columns, and windows are analyzed.
