- Abstract
Social media has proven to be an effective resource when communicating relevant information to a country-located population, as well as for regional or even global communication. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the role of health institutions as managers of social communication. The objective of this work was to analyze the communication dynamics of Spanish-speaking national public health agencies in Latin America through X. 136,227 posts published between January 2020 and March 2021 were collected. The results suggest that Latin American countries are actively using X to keep the population informed about the development of the crisis. Likewise, the structure of the communication network shows that there are common elements among most of the countries analyzed. Given this situation, it is considered that the development of more complex networks and their analysis should be on the scientific research agenda in the social field.
