- Abstract
The article discusses the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution in relation to the legal aspects of the development of data encryption-related backdoor programs which would allow government access to encrypted communications. Computer source code laws are addressed, along with privacy rights and search and seizure laws in the U.S. American constitutional law and the legal rights of law enforcement officials are assessed, along with the relationship between technology and the law.
