- Abstract
The article presents a study that examined the adequacy of vitamin D status in an Aboriginal adult population in South Australia, as well as the relationship between serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25-OHD) levels and biochemical variables of calcium and bone mineral homeostasis and other factors influencing vitamin D synthesis, storage and metabolism. Results indicate a significant association between body mass index (BMI) and parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels. Researchers concluded that vitamin D insufficiency is highly prevalent in the population studied.
