The article discusses religious arbitration in the U.S. court system with regard to the California Superior Court case Bixler v. Church of Scientology International. Topics explored include the interpretation and applicability of the U.S. Federal Arbitration Act (FAA), the history, policies, and internal discipline system of the Church of Scientology, and the alleged exploitation of the FAA and the First Amendment's protection of religious freedom by the said Church.
