- Title
Tocharian AB kulyp- 'to crave, desire' and the Indo-European root *leubh.
- Abstract
The article offers information on the etymologies of the Tocharian AB verb kulyp- to crave, desire, and the development of Indo-European labiovelars in Tocharian. It mentions that the root *leub h- is known from the inscriptions on ceramics from Banassac and the vase from La Graufesenque in Gaulish. It notes that the root *leubhh- has already been identified including in Indo-Aryan, Iranian, and Greek, and the Tocharian counterpart could be added if it contains the prefix *ko(m)-. Moreover, it that none of the subsisting etymological solutions is definitive.
