The article presents a literary criticism of Francis Bacon's utopia "New Atlantis," focusing on his use of the Biblical imagery of Noah's Ark. The prevalent use of arks within mainstream Christian and Bacon's writings as symbols of preservation, memory, and salvation are highlighted. The particular typology of the ark as applied to the Christian conception of the church is also discussed.
