- Abstract
The article discusses primary education in Botswana, particularly focusing on teachers and their attitudes about reading and how they influence the reading habits of their students. The authors hosted a workshop in several primary schools to tell teachers about the importance of reading to them and their students. The culture of reading in Botswana is discussed, particularly a study by C. Molelo and A. R. Cowieson, which found that if reading culture were to expanded, teachers should amend their teaching methods. A survey that the authors gave to the workshop participants found that there is a reading culture amongst teachers and that they were interested in expanding reading opportunities in their classrooms.
