- Title
Taking the Bait.
- Abstract
The article focuses on a tactic adopted by the Sacramento, California Police Department (PD) for apprehending car thieves. As reported, the PD attaches global positioning system (GPS) to cars used as baits. Ben Gomez, a detective in the Office of Investigations, says that when an activation has occurred, the information is sent to the dispatcher who then gets units rolling and gives them a description of the car, the direction of travel and speed. Gomez adds that they have the ability to lock the doors and turn off the engine.
