- Authors
Michaels, David; Monforton, Celeste
- Abstract
The article presents a case study offering a history of the knowledge and public policy concerning the prevention of beryllium-related disease, focusing primarily on the role of the beryllium sector in shaping the policies of the U.S. regulatory system. It shows the practice of manufacturing uncertainty by some polluters and manufacturers of hazardous products to prevent delay regulation or victim compensation. The significance of considering the hazards linked with a toxic material through the whole life cycle of a product is also emphasized.
