- Authors
McCarthy, Marie
- Abstract
The article focuses on the contribution of the National Association for Music Education (MENC) to international music education. The Music Supervisors National Conference, which later became MENC, was founded in Keokuk, Iowa, in April 1907. International activity in the early decades of MSNC, from 1907 to the early 1930s, was focused on building an American-European alliance of music educators. With the political and economic crises of the early 1930s, the lively and stable alliance between music educators in the U.S. and Europe were interrupted until after World War II.
