- Abstract
The article examines the acute toxicity of some common pesticides, metals and surfactants towards Gammarus italicus and Echinogammarus tibaldii and the possible significant differences in sensitivity between these freshwater Amphipoda. Both G. italicus and E. tibaldii are potentially usable as test organisms because of their handling and rearing facility and of the physiological homogeneity of test individuals. G. italicus is considered an endangered species due to its low densities. The researchers included only E. tibaldii as a target organism in their toxicity test battery.
