- Abstract
The article examines the metachlor herbicide content in the soil used in the production of irrigated potato in northern India. It is said that the herbicide is absorbed in the roots and shoots of the seedlings and inhibits a root elongation. It affects biochemically and physiologically the protein and lipid synthesis, giberallic acid induced reactions and the respiration and photosynthesis of the crops. The study aims to investigate the fate of metachlor in soil and its uptake and persistence in potato tubers under the conditions in India. Methods involves technical samples and formulated products testing. After several processes, result indicate that metachlor does not persist in soil when applied under the north Indian condition.
