- Title
Artistic Freedom and Moral Rights in Contemporary Art: The Mass MoCA Controversy.
- Authors
GOVER, K. E.
- Abstract
The article presents an examination into questions of artistic freedom and the ethics of art curating and display. A controversy between the Swiss artist Christoph Büchel and the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art is particularly highlighted, noting how the expressed wishes of the artist to control the distribution of his artwork and the management of the art museum came into direct conflict. Another case with sculptor Richard Serra and his work "Tilted Arc" is also referenced.
