- Abstract
Arithmetic logic unit is used in performing the arithmetic and logical operations of any system. Increasing the speed and low power consumption are the important attributes for any digital circuit.. The speed of different modules used in the design will determine the overall performance of the system. For the ALU design, the most important part is the adder. Carry look-ahead adder is fast, but the area of the layout and fan-out on some of the signals increases as the number of bits grows, slowing down the adder. Ripple carry adder has a longer delay with minimal layout area.
