- Abstract
The article reports on the case of a newborn Japanese girl diagnosed with epidermal nevus syndrome associated with anterior scleral staphyloma and ectopic bone and cartilagious intraocular tissue. Observation showed a mass lesion on the girl's left eyeball and a linear and diffuse acanthoses on the face. Results of histopathological examination of the enucleated left eyeball revealed the presence of thin sclera adjacent to the corneal limbus that resulted in anterior staphyloma, as well as ectopic osteocartilaginous tissues in the posterior sclera.
