BJC = JMD²: The Contributions of Joseph M. Dawson and James M. Dunn to the Baptist Joint Committee.
- Authors
Walker, J. Brent
- Abstract
The article discusses the contributions of Joseph M. Dawson and James M. Dunn of the Baptist Joint Committee to the preservation of religious liberty. Dawson understood that liberty began with a gift from God and had nothing to do with any toleration from the hand of the state which fails to capture the essence of individual freedom. Dunn believed that not God, neighbors and the state should be allowed to vitiate the voluntary response to God that is the essence of one's humanity.
