- Authors
Tannen, Michael B.
- Abstract
The article presents a study of the motives of students for attending college. The study tests the theory that students view college attendance as an investment with benefits for future employment. It is stated that students view attending college as the consumption of a consumer good with economic benefits. Research methods used to evaluate both motivations for college attendance are described. The article comments on the economic and financial aspects of a student's decision to attend college. Application of the study's findings to theories of occupational choice is addressed.
