- Abstract
The article reports on politics in Sweden. It discusses the parliamentary elections in September 2006 wherein the four-party Alliance for Sweden won over the Social Democratic Party. The Social Democratic Government was in place since 1994 and was met with criticism on issues including the lack of jobs and the slow response to the tsunami on December 26, 2004. To oppose the government in the elections, the People's Party Liberals, the Moderate Party, the Christian Democrats and the Center Party formed the Alliance for Sweden. The article provides a description of the elections and changes in the government.
