- Abstract
Anaphylaxis is a clinical emergency which could be life-threatening and all physicians caring for children should be familiar with its management. The objective of this review is to remind of the pathophysiology of anaphylactic reaction, describe symptoms and diagnostic criteria as well as describe particular forms of anaphylaxis. Rapid recognition of symptoms and early administration of adrenaline are crucial for the disease outcome. Allergy assessment is mandatory in all children with a history of anaphylaxis. A tailored anaphylaxis management plan is required for these patients and it includes instructions on allergen avoidance and selfinjectable adrenaline administration in case of a recurrence of allergic reaction.
