- Abstract
INTRODUCTION: Child abuse is the major global problem and all communities faced with various forms of it. This phenomenon can be investigated from verbal, physical, emotional and sexual aspects. In many cases the victims of child abuse cannot reveal the event due to various reasons. The event can remain as a secret and consequently leads to serious health and mental problems that are difficult to compensate in future. AIM: The aim of this present study was to assess the knowledge and attitude regarding prevention of child abuse among mothers of under five children in selected village of Moga, Punjab. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A quantitative research approach and non experimental descriptive design was used in the study. The 100 mothers of under five children were selected by using systematic random sampling technique. Structured questionnaire and attitude scale was prepared to assess the knowledge and attitude of mothers of under five children. RESULTS: The result showed that maximum mothers of under five children (50%) had average knowledge and minimum mothers of under five children (12%) had good knowledge regarding prevention of child abuse. The maximum mothers of under five children (63%) had positive attitude and minimum mothers of under five children (37%) had negative attitude regarding prevention of child abuse. CONCLUSION: There was positive correlation between knowledge with attitude of mothers of under five children regarding prevention of child abuse.
