- Abstract
The article focuses on the study on the importance of maternal serum concentration of placental growth factor (PIGF) in the performance of first-trimester screening for trisomy 21. It describes PIGF as an important angiogenesis local mediator and trophoblastic invasion regulator. It investigates the role of PIGF in the gestation of the chromosomally abnormal fetuses. The study reveals that the concentration of (PIGF) can help improve the performance of first-trimester screening for trisomy 21.
