- Abstract
The author reflects on various studies in obstetric ultrasound which assesses its accuracy to predict spontaneous onset of labor term, the success rate of induction of labor and the risk of Cesarean section after onset of induced labor. He remarks that in general, the published data show that ultrasonographic measurement of cervical length is a useful tool to predict spontaneous delivery in preterm and term births, but is ineffective in predicting the success or failure of induction of labor.
