- Abstract
The article discusses the efficacy of the second-trimester genetic amniocentesis for chromosome abnormalities in pregnancy. Accordingly, there are two main second-trimester screening tests for trisomy 18 including a serum screen indicating a high risk for trisomy and a fetal choroid plexus cysts detected during a routine sonographic examination. Several reasons have been presented which are significant in performing a detailed sonographic examination on women having positive case for trisomy 18.
