- Abstract
Medicinal plants have been used for a long time for therapeutic benefit in treating or preventing diseases. Due to its geographical location, Thailand is endowed with a great biological diversity. These bioresources can provide an array of natural products for the development of new drugs. In their Full Paper on page 910 ff., Somsak Ruchirawat, Chulabhorn Mahidol et al. report on the exceptional potency of cardinane sesquiterpenes isolated from Alangium salviifolium plants on aromatase inhibition. The data of the study suggest that these compounds might represent aromatase inhibitors for breast cancer and could be leads for further drug development.
