- Abstract
The article discusses a research study that aims to establish the feasibility of immunosuppression withdrawal in pediatric living donor liver transplant recipients. Results reveal that among 20 children patients, 12 met the primary end point, preserving normal allograft function for an average of 35.7 months after discontinuing immunosuppression therapy. Compared with baseline biopsies, follow-up biopsies acquired over two years after completing withdrawal revealed no significant change. It is concluded that 60% of pediatric recipients of parental living donor liver transplants remained off immunosuppression therapy for at least one year with normal graft function and stable allograft histology.
