- Abstract
The article discusses a study of the relationship between operative time of day (PTD) and adverse outcomes following a thoracic organ transplantation. The researchers analyzed data from the United Network for Organ Sharing, about 27,118 adults older than 18 years who underwent heart or lung transplants from January 2000 through June 2010 using the Kaplan-Meier method. They found that there is no difference in short-term survival between daytime and night-time heart transplants. They also observed that nighttime LT was associated with a lower unadjusted 90-day survival than daytime LT.
