- Abstract
The article focuses on the need of an involuntary limited purpose public figure for protection of the First Amendment rights. Topics discussed include the evolution of the U.S. defamation law in the U.S Supreme Court, the case of New York Times Co. v. Sullivan that established the actual malice standard, which has to be met before press reports about public officials can be considered to be defamation and libel, and the involuntary public figure doctrine.
