The article reports on the prisoner disenfranchisement and the right to vote in elections to the European Parliament. Topics discussed include the relationship between electoral rights and European Union (EU) citizenship, EU law, and fundamental rights in the Charter. Also being discussed is the election of the members of the European Parliament by direct universal suffrage in a free and secret ballot.
