- Abstract
Women are generally more in the background than men in business life. Women are often underrepresented in business life. As a result, managerial positions are a difficult career step for women to achieve. Responsibilities imposed on women due to their physiological characteristics or socially determined social roles are among the most important challenges they face in their career progression process. Therefore, physiological or socially determined roles affect the perception of female managers. This perception is an important factor in terms of the work atmosphere created by female managers and their managerial success. This study deals with the effect of female manager characteristics on the work atmosphere. Working women participated in the study, which was carried out with a quantitative method. 221 women working in the public and private sectors in Antalya participated in the research. The participants in the research were determined by the convenience sampling method and the data were collected by the questionnaire technique. The research has concluded that the "relationship management behaviours" and "work ethics" characteristics of female managers have a significant and positive effect on the positive work atmosphere, while the "task execution behaviours" has a significant and positive effect on the negative work atmosphere.
