- Abstract
The article presents a study which investigated the thermal expansion behavior of fumed silica/cyanate ester nanocomposites using thermomechanical analysis. All nanocomposites were found to have decreased coefficients of thermal expansion (CTEs) as compared with the neat bisphenol E cyanate resin. The results of estimates of the interphase volume fraction and effective thickness showed that the interphase volume fraction was larger for the 12-nanometer (nm) fumed silica nanocomposites.
