- Title
Margin Cost Ban for Derivatives End-Users Advances.
- Authors
Barlas, Stephen
- Abstract
The article looks at legislation proposed as part of the Business Risk Mitigation & Stabilization Act in the U.S. House of Representatives that would exempt end-user nonfinancial companies from derivatives margin cost requirements, noting the delay on the consideration of companion legislation in the U.S. Senate. Also discussed are concerns that the bill would grant regulatory authority to impose margin costs on swap transactions or lead to consumer price volatility.
