- Abstract
In the article, the authors present a study which examined the possible life-threatening complications of excessive licorice consumption. Also cited are how the glycyrrhizin content of licorice root is used in the food industry and complementary medicine treatments in the form of licorice, and the symptoms of patients treated in intensive care units due to licorice toxicity like arterial hypertension, hypokalemia, and metabolic alkalosis.
