- Abstract
Since 2010, the majority of Mexican Congress had amended their criminal codes in order to introduce the crime of femicide. Faced with this wave of reforms, in this article an assessment of the suitability of criminal policy adopted in Mexico to meet the problem of female homicides by gender is performed. In the first part of the investigation the treatment given to the murders of women by criminology is analyzed, with special emphasis on the analysis made by the feminist movement. Subsequently, the phenomenon of femicide in Mexico is contextualized, and at the same time, some criminal policy interventions aimed at reducing the incidence of femicide are illustrated. Finally, in the third part, an evaluation of the effectiveness of such actions could mean in the prevention, punishment and eradication matter of femicide in Mexico is performed.
