- Title
Resident Work Hours--The Dawn of a New "Error"?
- Authors
Kutikov, Alexander
- Abstract
The article discusses the impact of the 80-hour workweek on urology. According to the article, the impact is poorly documented but most would agree that the field was much less affected than other specialties. Indeed, it cites a survey which revealed that the main complaint of urology residency program directors was in regard to the additional paperwork necessary. It also discusses a statement issued by the American College of surgeons (ACS) stressing the lack of proven benefits to patient safety following the 2003 work hour reduction.
