- Abstract
The United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) is the core legal body of the United Nations (UN) system in the field of international trade law, with universal membership. UNCITRAL, which has been carrying out its mandate to further the progressive harmonization and unification of international trade law since 1966, held its fiftieth session in Vienna on 3-21 July 2017.1 During that time, it hosted a three-day congress in celebration of its fiftieth anniversary. This article provides an overview of the most recent Commission session and of the activities of the Commission's working groups and Secretariat from mid-2016 to mid-2017.
