- Abstract
The parties to international commercial transactions often come from economic, social and legal environment with many substantial differences. This is obviously reflected in the words and expressions used in the contract and in the behaviour of the parties in the course of its making and performance. Such situation may lead to differences in understanding by the parties of the contents of particular terms and conditions of their contract. The UNIDROIT Principles of International Commercial Contracts include the rules which were formulated to be used for determining the contents of the contracts in such situations. The article deals with the explanation of corresponding rules and observing the practice of their application in the course of settling commercial disputes by the courts or arbitration.
