The article reports on the uprising of mine workers in West Siberia after a methane gas explosion in Raspadskaya Mine located in Mezhdurechensk. It reveals that the outbreak of social protest was the result of the anger of the miners when the rescue operations for the explosion were halted. It cites that the same outbreak existed in 1989 wherein miners were able to paralyze the mine industry of Russia.
