- Abstract
This article focuses on Harry and Norman Chandler professorship established at Stanford University. Gifts and pledges from the Chandler family and the Times Mirror Foundation of Los Angeles have enabled Stanford University to establish the Harry and Norman Chandler Professorship in Communication. Richard W. Lyman, Stanford president, said that the donors want the person appointed to the Chandler Chair to be nationally distinguished academically and well regarded in the profession for his or her contributions in support of a free press as an institution.
