- Title
A Nuclear Assault on South Africa's Freedoms.
- Authors
BOYCE, GERARD
- Abstract
This article discusses the recent surge of pro-nuclear articles in the South African media, suggesting that it may be part of a coordinated campaign to promote nuclear power. The author highlights the potential motivations behind this campaign, such as the BRICS summit and the delayed address by Mineral Resources and Energy Minister Gwede Mantashe. The article also criticizes a specific article written by a nuclear engineer, which suggests that the government should have a strategy to combat civil society groups that may intentionally delay nuclear projects. The author argues that these views reflect a disregard for democratic processes and the role of civil society. The article concludes by proposing a public referendum on nuclear plans to ensure transparency and public input.
