- Title
Quantum material goes classical.
- Abstract
The article focuses on a study done by I. A. Todoshchenko and colleagues regarding the surface roughening caused by quantum fluctuations of the solid-liquid interface of the Helium atoms at low temperature. It states that the Helium atoms at absolute zero temperature retain a residual energy, but when the temperature is increased, thermal fluctuations cause surface roughening by creating steps. According to the study, the quantum fluctuations reduce the energy required for roughening.
