The article discusses the encounter between gay culture and the melodramatic genre. Derek Cohen and Richard Dyer explain that identity, knowledge, propaganda and pleasure play vital roles in the constitution of the audience. They write about the collisions between the traditional and radical gay cultures exhibiting similarities with political formation and admitting to existence. According to the article, the traditional gay culture shows a more subdued address to the feminine identity while the radical gay culture voices out liberation to the gays of society.
