- Abstract
The article offers suggestions for creating hanging baskets full of African violets of the Achimenes variety for growing outdoors during spring and fall. Citing some prolific bloomers such as Pink Frost, Queen of Sheba and Tarantella as examples of good varieties to plant in baskets, it suggests planting ten to twelve rhizomes in a ten-inch basket, pinching the new growth to two leaves and rooting the cuttings. The plants flourish under dappled sun in good potting soil lined with moisture-retaining polymers and by adding time-released fertilizers.
