The article focuses on trade liberalization, macroeconomic fluctuations and contingent protection in Latin America. The number of antidumping investigation initiated each year that resulted to the imposition of import duties is identified. The link between the implementation of antidumping activity investigations and the behavior of key macroeconomic variables is explored.
