- Abstract
The article explores the diversity of mitochondrial DNA and the structure of population in the Irrawaddy dolphin. Topics include the description of the Irrawaddy dolphin as facultative freshwater cetacean, their occupation on both near-shore marine waters and in fresh waters and the importance of wider geographic coverage and increased molecular markers to effectively assess the population health of the Irrawaddy dolphin.
