- Title
Eucharistische Metaphysik beim jungen Leibniz.
- Authors
Propach, Jan Levin
- Abstract
During his years in Mainz (1668-1672), the young Leibniz sought to reconcile the Catholic doctrine of the Eucharist, as taught by the Fourth Lateran Council and the Council of Trient, with the Cartesian mechanism. In this way, he thinks he can show that Real Presence can merely exist in the mode of transubstantiation, in order to appease the controversial theological disputes about the Eucharist between Lutheranism and the Catholic Church and, therefore, to come a decisive step closer to reunion.
