- Authors
Ferriss, Suzanne; Young, Mallory
- Abstract
This essay considers the rise of Marie Antoinette to popularity as an icon of fashion and chick culture and examines how the film "Marie Antoinette" by Sofia Coppola was used as a vehicle promoting this resurgence and capturing the spirit of the Third-Wave Feminism Age. It explores the third-wave revisionist view of Marie Antonette as a symbol of fashion, consumerism and popular media. It also explores her youthful innocence, her role as a political pawn between two kingdoms, and her embracing of motherhood.
