- Abstract
The article focuses on a faculty member's academic freedom as citizen in the U.S. Principles included in academic freedom's rules as they apply to the faculty member as citizen are analyzed. The development of the case law on the subject is summarized. Principles relating to university faculties' obligations, set by the Association of American Universities (AAU) Statement are provided. Information regarding the conduct of a faculty member in the field of race relations is explained. Details of the conduct of the individual in two categories, expression and action under the general theory of freedom are given.
