- Abstract
The article presents detailed information on unemployment insurance in the U.S. Social Security Act, with emphasis on its historical account. In 1916, the issue of unemployment insurance came before the U.S. Congress, for the first time. This was in the form of a resolution by Representative Meyer London, of New York. Information on the creation of the Committee on Economic Security in 1934, is presented. Details on various investigations and developments related to the drafting of bills, are also given.
