- Abstract
The study "From >Gastarbeiterdeutsch< to >Kiezdeutsch<. Morphosyntax in transition" by David Hünlich examines the language change caused by migration in Germany. The author analyzes over 60 studies from the past five decades and presents a generational perspective on language change. The study shows that numerous examples of morphosyntactic features can be found in the regions under investigation. The language acquisition of children with migration experience often takes place in a school setting and under the influence of standard-like varieties of German. There are clear indications that the use of German has become established in the family life of many migrants. The sixth chapter discusses studies on multiethnolects in urban areas with a history of migration. The speakers of multiethnolects have different linguistic backgrounds, and there is a growing sense of identity as a group.
